CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Lady Tigers needed eight innings in the first game of a double header today to subdue St. Catharine, 3-2, and then completed the sweep at Veterans Memorial Park with a 10-1 win in the second game.

Erin Benton was a force in Game 1 with two hits. Her sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Jacqueline Roof for the game winner.

Winning pitcher, Victoria Decker (8-2) had only given up five hits through six frames, but got in trouble when she issued a leadoff walk to Kelsey Gravens in the top of the seventh. After pinch runner Jessica Burgess was sacrificed to second by Shebi Hall, Rachel Cammuse knocked in the tying run with a single up the middle.

Decker's line was six hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Losing pitcher Cammuse (4-6) gave up six hits, walked three and fanned two.

Campbellsville (13-5, 4-1) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Erin Benton and Rebecca Miller singled and were advanced by Markie Smith's ground out. Cammuse was called for a balk and CU led 1-0.

SCC (6-13, 1-4 MSC) would tie the game at 1-1 with no-out singles by Brandi Hood and Tiffany Wickline and a passed ball credited Smith. Carly Berry's sacrifice fly plated the Patriots' first run.

CU went up 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a run-scoring single by Smith.

In addition to Erin Benton's two hits, Brianna Scott, Roof, Miller and Smith had one apiece.

In the second game, Campbellsville had three-run first and second innings and never looked back.

Brianna Scott drove in Jacqueline Roof with a two-run homer to center in the first and the third run came across when Erin Benton, one of the hotter hitters on the team, doubled in Haley Szpila, who reached on a free pass.

In the bottom of the second, Roof hit a solo home run and Scott was hit by a pitch preceding a pitching change for St. Catharine (6-14, 1-4 MSC). Kristin Benton walked and Szpila's double giving CU a 6-0 lead.

A seventh run was added in the third when Roof singled home Rebecca Miller in the third.

CU (14-5, 5-1 MSC) mercy-ruled SCC in the bottom of the sixth with three more runs — a solo home run by Kristin Benton and a two-run homer by Markie Smith.

Neely Quint (6-3) pitched three innings of two-hit ball. Reagan Kingrey covered three innings in the circle too, allowing two hits — one a solo homer by SCC's Kolbi Mitchell.

Roof led all hitters with three safeties and 2 RBI. Kristin Benton (RBI) and Scott (2 RBI) had two hits apiece. Szpila had one hit (2 RBI), Erin Benton one hit (RBI) and Smith 2 RBI with her one hit. Adrean Jordan also had a hit.
