Box Score

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — (BOX SCORE) Campbellsville baseball met up with non-conference foe Indiana University Southeast on Wednesday evening and came away with a 7-1 victory.

The Tigers improve to 14-4 and are tied for second in the Mid-South Conference with Lindsey Wilson College at 4-2.

After allowing only two hits through the first four innings, the Grenadiers pitching staff fell apart in the fifth and sixth innings. Chris Allen kick-started the Tigers' offense with a leadoff single in the fifth inning and advanced all the way to third base after consecutive walks by the Indiana Southeast pitchers.

Alex Kline grounded into a 4-6-3 double play but Miguel Solano-Espinoza moved to third base and Allen scored the game's first run. Mike Castellano delivered an RBI single to score Solano and the Tigers never trailed from that point.

Campbellsville scored five runs in the sixth inning after the IUSE pitching staff struggled for the second consecutive inning. The Grenadiers issued three walks and five wild pitches to help the Tigers to blow the game wide open.

It all started with Garrett Everhart leading off with a single and moving to second base on a wild pitch. Ricky McColloch reached via a walk and Jaime Valle delivered the big blow with a two-RBI double to right field, scoring both Everhart and McColloch to put CU up, 4-0.

Vallie was lifted for a courtesy runner and Gentry Kinsella scored on a sacrifice fly by Solano. Carlos Torres delivered a single to move Allen to third base and he ended up pushing the Tigers' lead to 7-1 on another wild pitch.

Seven different Tigers recorded hits in the victory with Torres and Mike Castellano leading the way with two knocks. Torres also led the team with two RBIs.

The Tigers' pitching staff, made up of Jake Pannunzio, Chris Tuma, Indalecio Romo, Casey Congleton and Dexter Cline allowed only one run and struck out a combined six batters. Romo picked up his second win of the season, throwing two innings and allowing only two hits.
