Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — It wasn't pretty but a win is a win. Newly ranked No. 18 Campbellsville baseball saw two different games finish in different ways. The Tigers defeated Asbury University, 8-2 in game one and squeaked out a 3-2 win in game two of the doubleheader.

Casey Scott ended the night for the Tigers on a positive note. Scott came to the plate with bases loaded, two outs and the game tied, 2-2. The junior from Scottsdale, Ariz. delivered a walk-off single to left field off reliever Brenden Wells to score Shane Woodson from third base.
Wells (1-5) actually picked up the loss in game one and game two of the doubleheader.
Campbellsville (19-4, 7-2 MSC) had to rally in game two after Asbury took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Tigers plated two runs in the fifth after a leadoff single by Ricky McColloch and RBI-double by Shane Woodson. Jaime Valle ended up plating Woodson with a suicide squeeze for CU to take its first lead of game two, 2-1.
Asbury, though, came right back and answered the Tigers' run. The Eagles scored another run from one swing of the bat by Dallas Murphy III. Murphy turned on an Indalecio Romo fastball and hit a wind-aided homerun to left field.
Romo (3-2) picked up the win after the heroics by Scott in the final inning to give the Tigers their 10th straight victory.
Even though, CU's offense was struggling in game two, the Tigers' defense was subpar as well. Campbellsville committed a season-high four errors in game two and aided the Eagles in scoring their one run in the second inning. CU finished the doubleheader with six miscues on the defensive end – the most for CU in a twin bill all season.
Jake Pannunzio started on the hill for the Tigers and went three innings allowing two hits and one unearned run. He also struck out five of the seven batters he faced.
Casey Congleton came in for relief in the fourth inning and was also dominate on the mound. He went two innings allowing just one base runner.
Woodson led the Tigers at the plate with two of CU's five hits. Scott, McColloch and Miguel Solano-Espinoza totaled the other three hits.
Game one of the twill bill was much different than game two. Campbellsville jumped on the Eagles early with a three-run first inning and a two-run second inning.
The Tigers' Chris Tuma started on the mound and went three strong innings allowing only three base runners. Sophomore lefty Dexter Cline came into the fourth inning and allowed the two lone Asbury runs.
After a leadoff double by McKenzie Sullivan, he ended up scoring an unearned run on consecutive CU errors. The Tigers conceded yet another run on an RBI groundout by Bryce Anderson to score Spencer Andrews, 5-2.
Cline upped his game with runners on second and third with two outs to strikeout Logan Crum to end the Asbury threat.
The Tigers answered the Asbury runs with a single run in the fourth inning and a two-spot in the fifth inning to push their lead to, 8-2.
Wesley Vancil (1-0) picked up his first Tiger win after relieving Cline in the sixth inning, sitting down six-straight batters.
Chris Allen was the major spark for Campbellsville, going 4-for-4 and driving in three runs. Alex Kline was the only other Tiger to record multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Gentry Kinsella, Carlos Torres, Jarrod Ball, Richard Ramirez, Brandon Christiansen and Jeremy Rosenthal all recorded one hit to combine for CU's 12 total base knocks.
Campbellsville will now host St. Catharine College (21-8, 7-2 MSC) on Friday-Saturday, April 3-4 for a three-game series of two of the three top teams in the Mid-South Conference.
First pitch for Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and is subject to change with potential weather coming into the Campbellsville area. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET. All games will be live on the CU Sports Network – www.portal.stretchinternet.com/camp
