Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. — In a wild afternoon and evening of softball, Campbellsville had to go extra innings to beat No. 9 Belhaven for the second time this year and then rattled out eight hits in beating (RV) Central Methodist at the Gulf Coast Invitational.
 Â
The wins evened the Lady Tigers' stay so far in south Alabama at 2-2 (9-4 overall) and CU plays Columbia College Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
Â
Campbellsville 7, Belhaven 6
Â
In a wild nine-inning affair, Campbellsville had to come back twice to pin a second loss on the Blazers.
Â
Neely Quint (4-1) had a one-hitter going through five innings and led Belhaven 3-0 before serving up a two-run home run to Ashlee Hitt in the sixth. Then the bottom fell out for the freshman.
Â
Destiney Taul provided the offence that gave CU a 4-2 lead when she doubled in the bottom of the sixth and then scored on an error.
Â
But Quint walked the leadoff batter in the top of the seventh and an error put two on with no outs. Eventually a run would score and Quint would load the bases allowing Belhaven the tying run on a passed ball and the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded single.
Â
Brianna Scott knotted the score at 5-5 with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Â
That's when Decker entered facing the international tiebreaker. That's when where the last person out becomes a runner at second. Eventually a ground out to Shelby Ray at second made it 6-5 Belhaven.
Â
Coach Shannon Wathen chose to pinch run Zatoria Leavell at second and it paid off. Adrean Jordan sacrificed Leavell to third and Kendyl Ahrens sent her home with a single.
Â
Decker coaxed a grounder to first, fanned a batter and a liner to third ended the top of the ninth.
Â
With Shelby Ray running at second, Rebecca Miller bunted her to third and she scored on a throwing error to first.
Â
Campbellsville 9, Central Methodist 2
Â
Destiney Taul had the biggest game of her career, collecting three hits and two RBIs to lead CU's eight-hit attack.
Â
Campbellsville led 3-0 in the fourth after Taul's double scored two run in the second along with a fourth-inning Markie Smith home run.
Â
But Central Methodist added a couple of runs in the fifth before the Lady Tigers plated three more runs in the top of the sixth.
Â
Haley Szpila's home run led the inning off and a single by Erin Benton and walk to Smith followed. Taul singled and a run scored on an error and another on Shelby Ray's sacrifice fly.
Â
Campbellsville added three more in the seventh on successive one-out walks to Kristin Benton and Szpila. Two wild pitches later and K. Benton would score. Erin Benton reached on a free pass and Adrean Jordan's sac fly scored a run and Smith singled in another.
Â
Victoria Decker (5-2) picked up her second win of the day on a four hitter with seven Ks and three walks. Decker did load the bases in the bottom of the seventh before striking out the last batter.
