Box Score GULF SHORES, Ala. — Columbia College ended Campbellsville's run in the Gulf Coast Invitational as Paxton Welch shut out the Lady Tigers 3-0 this morning.
Â
CU (9-4) had to win to continue, but could never muster the offense necessary to produce a rally.
Â
Kristin Benton led the CU attack with two hits, the only others coming off the bats of Brianna Scott and Adrean Jordan. Campbellsville left two runners on in both the first and third innings, but all that was done with two outs.
Â
Neely Quint (4-2) gave up an RBI single to Julianna Waldner in the first and got in trouble in the fifth when she allowed four consecutive singles to start the frame. Quint allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out two. She saw relief in the bottom of the sixth from Victoria Decker, who sat down Columbia 1-2-3.
Â
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Lourdes Wednesday, March 11 in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
