PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Campbellsville strung together 15 hits and pushed across double-digit runs for the fourth time this season, enroute to a 10-4 victory over Shawnee State University.

The Tigers improved to 21-5 overall and 9-3 inside the Mid-South Conference. Shawnee State drops to 14-20 and 5-7 in MSC play. The series ending doubleheader is scheduled to start Sunday, April 12 at noon ET at Branch Rickey Park.
The middle of the order did the bulk of the damage for Campbellsville. The three through six hitters had nine of the 15 hits for the Tigers. Alex Kline led the way going 3-for-4 and Garrett Everhart went 2-for-4 in the five-six holes, respectively. Carlos Torres and Casey Scott both had two hits apiece along with Richard Ramirez and Jaime Valle at the bottom of the order.
The pitching staff was made up of four Tigers with starter Mario Morales going three innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs. The junior from Riverside, Calif. gave up his first walk of the season after throwing 39.1 innings without a free pass.
Indalecio Romo (4-2) came in in relief and picked up the win, throwing 2.1 hitless innings. Matt Robertson and Casey Congleton closed out the final 3.2 innings, allowing only three hits and one run.
The scoring started in the second inning with five hits for Campbellsville. Scott led off with a drag-bunt single that started a theme of three-straight base hits for the Tigers in the inning. Everhart and Kline followed Scott with singles of their own before Alex Scanlan delivered the game's first run on a sacrifice fly.
Richard Ramirez then scored Everhart from third on a fielder's choice and the Tigers picked up consecutive singles from Valle and Chris Allen to score the third run.
Shawnee State would answer with two runs after three consecutive one-out singles by Mason Wisner, Dalton Tinsley and Adam Turner to load the bases. The Bears scored two runs on one play after a fielder's choice (5-3) and throwing error by Richard Ramirez at first base.
The Tigers would come right back with two more runs after the Bears starting pitcher, Derek Moore, surrendered a leadoff walk. Everhart drove in Scott with a double and then scored himself on Kline's single to center field.
That was all the runs the Tigers needed after taking a 5-3 lead into the fourth inning. Both teams scored single runs in the sixth but Campbellsville put the game out of reach with a three-run seventh.
The Tigers scored all three of those runs with two outs and only two hits, but were aided with the Bears only error.
Moore (2-5) is the reigning MSC Freshman and Pitcher of the Year but has struggled in his sophomore campaign. The Tigers scattered 13 hits and six runs in the seven innings that Moore was on the mound.
CU extended its lead to 10-4 with a single run in the eighth inning but Congleton sat the Bears down one-two-three in the ninth inning to close it out.
