Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Alex Kline hit a two-run bomb in the fourth inning of game two, to ignite a five-run inning, helping the Tigers clinch a share of their first Mid-South Conference regular season championship since 2011. The Tigers completed the two-game sweep of University of Pikeville with 12-3 and 5-1 wins on senior day at HIG Field.

The wins moved Campbellsville to 27-9 overall and 15-4 inside the Mid-South Conference. Going into Saturday's third game the Tigers hold a half-game lead over St. Catharine College who completed a three-game sweep of University of the Cumberlands and sits at 15-5 in conference play. Tomorrow's first pitch of the regular season finale is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET - weather permitting.
"Great job by our guys knowing what was on the line,"Â said assistant coach Brad Neffendorf. "We knew from here on out it was playoff baseball for the remainder of the year. Pikeville battled and competed at the plate all day and gave our pitchers some fits. We pitched through it and had some late inning timely hitting. This was great to see all around."
Game 1: Campbellsville 12, Pikeville 3 - BOX SCORE
Campbellsville got the bats going early and scored a run in six of the eigth innings they came to the plate. The Tigers pitching staff also excelled, giving up one run in the top of the second inning.Â
CU got on the board in the second inning with senior Jamie Valle leading off with hit by a pitch. He was replaced by Gentry Kinsella as a courtesy runner and on the first pitch of his at bat, fellow senior Ricky McColloch roped a triple to left field that scored Kinsella. Alex Kline then drove in Ricky McColloch from third on the next at bat.
The duo of Valle and McColloch would get the offense going again in the fourth inning. Valle reached via walk and McColloch singled his way on. A Kline groundout advanced both runners over and two batters later senior Alex Scanlan singled to right field scoring Kinsella, who was running for Valle, and McColloch.
Richard Ramirez would single to begin the fifth inning then advance all the way around to third on a Miguel Solano bunt and a passed ball. Ramirez would then score on an RBI single from senior Carlos Torres, 5-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, Garrett Everhart and Scanlan both reached base and were later plated by a two-RBI single to right-center from Soloano.
Campbellsville extended its lead in the seventh inning with four more runs and score another in the eighth. The Tigers' McColloch led the offensive charge with three hits in five at bats. Solano and Scanlan each had two hits apiece. Scanlan led Campbellsville with a career-high four RBI.
Jake Pannunzio (3-0) got the win on the mound after coming in to relieve starter Mario Morales in the middle of the fifth inning. Casey Congleton also saw time on the mound and pitched the final two innings scoreless.
Pikeville scored three runs in game one and recorded more hits than the Tigers (14-13), but left 11 Bears were left on base.
Game 2: Campbellsville 5, Pikeville 1 - BOX SCORE
Campbellsville scored five runs in the fourth inning of game two, but that was all it needed.
Pikeville was able to get men on in each of the first three innings including bases loaded in the first, but was unable to generate any runs. The Bears would leave ten men on base in game two for a combined 21 in the doubleheader.
Jaime Valle singled to center field and was once again replaced on the bases by Kinsella. Two batters later Alex Kline took a 1-0 pitch and hit it into the Tiger bullpen in right-center field. Kline's team-leading sixth home run gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead but that was just the beginning of the offense in the fourth.
Garrett Everhart and Shane Woodson reached on singles and then scored on RBI singles from Casey Scott and Alex Scanlan. Scott scored on an errant throw from the outfield on Scanlan's single, 5-0.
Nick Morehead went a strong six innings and picked up his ninth win for the Tigers. Although not a save situation, Logan Truex entered in the top of the seventh and shut the door on any hopes UPIKE had for a comeback.
