Tigers and Lady Tigers set new PRs at NCCAA

ROME, Ga. — The sun shined bright as multiple Tigers and Lady Tigers set personal records on the first day of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) meet in Rome, Ga.

"I'm real pleased with how today went," said Coach Hilary Lakes. "We had a lot of good performances and PRs. We have three athletes in the finals tomorrow, after their prelims today and at this type of competition level that's exciting for us to see. I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings for those we still have competing."

Madison Kaiser had a personal best in the women's javelin throw over four inches farther than her pervious mark. Kaiser placed fifth with a throw of 36.46 meters as Lindsey Burd followed in eighth, throwing 33.53 meters.

Braydon Russell set a PR for himself in the men's high jump, placing seventh with a jump of 1.93 meters. Johannesburg Boulware also set a new PR for himself at the NCCAAs running the 400-meter hurdles in 57.43 seconds

Brandon Battle will run in the final 200-meter dash as he ran a 21.71 — setting a new personal best in the process. He is .06 from qualifying with a NAIA 'B' standard time.

Paxton Wiley and Clayton Embry finished Top 5 in their preliminaries heats of the 110 meter hurdles and will run in the finals tomorrow afternoon.

The 4x800-meter relay might not have placed but they did shave off two seconds to set a new personal best on the season. Dylan FordWill BallardAdam Sandidge and Bret Crawford crossed the finish line in 7:58.07 – which is also a new school record after they set the bar at 8:00.85 at the Mid-South Conference meet two weeks ago.

Campbellsville will start the day with men's hammer and women's shot put in the field events and the men's steeple for track events.
