Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. — (BOX SCORE) Campbellsville's season ended at the hands of Faulkner University on Thursday afternoon at Harrison Field. The Eagles defeated the Tigers, 5-3, in the championship round of the NAIA Baseball Montgomery Bracket to move on to the Avista NAIA World Series.

The Tigers end their season at 30-12 overall but were able to capture their sixth Mid-South Conference regular season championship in 2015. Faulkner improves to 48-13 overall and will go to its third-straight World Series and fourth in five years. The Eagles won their first championship in 2013.
Campbellsville had to win two games on Thursday and one on Friday over top-seed Faulkner, but the Tigers came up just short. CU scored seven runs in the ninth inning of game one today against Lyon College, winning 10-2 to move into the championship round with Faulkner.
The Tigers continued their offensive spark in the first inning against the Eagles just one hour later with two runs in the first. Chris Allen and Casey Scott both singled and Alex Kline reached base via a hit by pitch to load the bases with one out. Miguel Solano scored Allen with an RBI single and Garrett Everhart scored Scott in the same fashion.
Everhart led the Tigers with two hits and two RBIs.
In the second inning, Jaime Valle reached on a walk and Faulkner starter Victor Arche was pulled after just throwing one-plus innings. Brian Bass (3-1) came in the game in relief and shut Campbellsville down in his longest outing of the season. Bass went 6.1 innings and allowed three hits while striking out four to pick up the win.
The Eagles answered with a single run in the second inning. It all started with a leadoff error by Solano followed by a Cody Sos RBI-single scoring the Eagles' first run.
Campbellsville added to its lead, 3-1, in the sixth inning and it all started with another leadoff hit by pitch. Ricky McColloch reached base via the HBP and advanced to second on an error by Dennis Morton at third base. Solano advanced McColloch and Kline (who reached via the error) to second and third with one out. Everhart picked up the Tigers third run with an RBI ground out to the second baseman.
Campbellsville's starter Mario Morales (4-3) shut down Faulkner in the middle innings. He finished throwing 7.2 innings, allowing nine hits and four earned runs.
The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to tie the game at three after three hits and a CU error. The Tigers recorded three errors overall.
The big blow came from the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year – Chris Madera. He delivered the tournaments third home run in the seventh to give the Eagles their first lead at 4-3, and the momentum went to the Faulkner dugout.
The three home runs came from the two teams in the finals – Campbellsville (1) and Faulkner (2).
Faulkner added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Randy Joung (pronounced Young) singled to leadoff the inning and Morales picked up a pop out and a strike out before allowing an RBI-single by Nick Cain.
The closer for Faulkner, Alejandro Castro came in to pitch the ninth inning and recorded his ninth save on the season, sitting Campbellsville down 1-2-3.
