IRVING, Texas — Campbellsville's Kayla Miracle was one of four members of the 2015 U.S. UWW Junior World Team that won gold medals at Body Bay UWW Junior Nationals on Sunday, May 17.
Miracle knocked off fellow Sunkist wrestler and 2014 Junior National champion Maya Nelson at 59kg, 9-0, 2-0.
Fellow USA teammates, Marino Doi, Cody Pfau and Becka Leathers will all join Miracle at the Junior World Championships in Brazil in August.
The Lady Tigers also had multiple Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) All-Americans compete at Body Bar with the highest finish of those wrestling was Shelby Hall finishing in sixth place at 63kg.
Teammate Rosemary Flores also wrestled at 63kg and finished in seventh place. One weight class up, Hannah Gladden (East Alabama Wrestling Club) finished in seventh place at 67kg after winning by fall in 1:30 over Morgan Becker (Team Illinois).
Campbellsville's highest finish behind Miracle came at the 79.5kg weight class. Kaitlyn Hill finished in fifth place after winning by forfeit over Audrey Bucher of Wisconsin Mat Monkey.
Hope Miracle, daughter of head coach Lee Miracle, also wrestled and won the national championship in the schoolgirl 97lb weight class.
Next up for the Lady Tigers is Rosemary Flores traveling back to her home state and competing with New York Athletic Club in the Beat the Streets Gala on Thursday, May 21.
