CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Campbellsville completed a sweep of its weekend matches at the Lee Volleyball Invitational with a couple of three-set wins today, stringing together four straight for the first time since the 2013 season.
Campbellsville 3, Barton College 0
Campbellsville got double-digit kills from three players and attacked at a .333 clip to shut out Barton College (4-5), 25-16, 25-19 and 25-21. With the win CU moves to 7-5 (2-2 MSC).
Maria Coelho led the way, hammering 13 balls for points. She had ample support from Annija Abolina (12) and Jana Kortas (11). Kortas made good on 11 of her 26 attacks for a .385 percentage. Mirela Vasconselos hit .455 while picking up an efficient six kills on 11 attempts. She also had three blocks.
The Lady Tigers won the kill battle 49-27 while committing only 15 errors.
Inoa Fields had 41 assists in the three-set match and was credited with three service aces and two blocks. The 51 team digs were evenly distributed with Jessie Pendleton (14), Fields (9), and Chanel Raymundo, Kortas and Marcella Compeau with seven each.
Campbellsville 3, Union University 0
Annija Abolina went ballistic on the Bulldogs, hitting .310 with 18 kills in 42 attack opportunities as CU won 25-17, 25-17 and 25-23. Maria Coelho added nine kills to the 13 she had in today's earlier match with Barton.
Inoa Fields dished out 32 assists and Jessie Pendleton and Chanel Raymundo had 14 and 12 digs, respectively.
Campbellsville went on 5-2 runs to win both the first and second sets, but set three brought a little drama.
Trailing 16-11 in the third, the Lady Tigers rallied on a service ace by Jana Kortas and an attack error by Casi Neff.
CU had 11 service aces, led by Fields' four and two each by Abolina and Pendleton.
Campbellsville will continue its road swing, but go back in conference with a 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 match at Cumberland University.
