COLUMBIA, Ky. — (RESULTS) Campbellsville women's swimming kicked off its 2015-16 season with a bang. The women had five A standard NAIA cuts that were met this weekend at the Lindsey Wilson Fall Frenzy.
"I am absolutely thrilled with the teams results from this weekend," said coach Casey Smith. "I know that everyone has been training hard and it showed with some really good times this weekend. We had a lot of excellent swims in every session, and this has been an excellent start to our season."
Shelby Mattingly led the way in the individual races. The senior from Versailes, Ky. finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle event. Mattingly swam a NAIA B Standard with a time of 57.74 seconds.
Mattingly also hit a B Standard in the 50-yard freestyle event – just 0.4 seconds behind the leader Simone de Rijcke from Lindenwood-Belleville.
Campbellsville also had five A standard times in relay events:
200-Yard Freestyle Relay:
Bailey Foxworth, Emily Hunter, Jessica Cook and Mattingly finished in third pace in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.39.
Kate Lewis, Maria Archilla, Katie Miller and Jen Lewis finished in sixth place at 1:54.88
200-Yard Medley Relay:
Miller, Jen Lewis, Katy Lewis and Mattingly finished third with a time of 2:03.04.
400-Yard Freestyle Relay:
Mattingly, Foxworth, Hunter and Cook with a time of 4:01.59 to finish in third place.
800-Yard Freestyle Relay:
Emily Hunter, Mattginly, Rebekah Tilton and Katy Lewis finished fourth with a time of 9:09.75 for another A standard.
The Lady Tigers also had relays finish just outside the NAIA standard times.
200-Yard Freestyle Relay:
Lindsey Buckman, Meika Hamblin, Casey Galyon and Rebekah Tilton (2:06.45 – 8th place).
