Tigers record third shutout against Oakland City

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - After four games on the road, Tiger soccer returned to Finley Stadium and shutout Oakland City University, 2-0.

Campbellsville (7-2, 3-0 MSC) records its third shutout of the season against non-conference, NCAA DII affiliated OCU, in front of a rowdy Finley Stadium.

The Tigers came out of the gate full steam ahead but couldn't connect with the back of the net. CU recorded 13 shots, six being on goal. The Oaks recorded only four shots with half of their shots on goal in the first half.

Ross Lindsay stepped up in the 61st minute and broke the scoreless tie with his second goal of the season and fifth of his career. 

Eleven minutes later Guilherme Cheng pushed the Tigers ahead 2-0 wth his sixth goal of the season.

The Tigers had 34 shots, almost five times more than the Oak's six.

Reigning MSC defensive player of the week, Gonzalo Sapena recorded only two saves in the shutout whole OCU's goalkeeper Conor McGoldrick recorded seven saves in the loss.

Campbellsville will hit the road for a three game stint stating in Wilmore, Ky. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Tigers will face Asbury University at 7 p.m. ET and fans can watch the game live HERE. CU will then travel to Lindenwood-Belleville on Oct. 10 and end the road trip with conference rival Georgetown College Oct. 14.
