Tigers end non-conference play with 84-64 win

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Dominique Harding scored 17 points and Ron Scott finished with a double-double, 13 points and 11 rebounds, to push Campbellsville men's basketball past the Wilmington Fightin' Quakers, 84-64.

Harding's 17 points and Scott's 11 rebounds were both career-high's, as Campbellsville played its final non-conference opponent of the season and improved its overall record to 14-4.

The Tigers dominated in the box score, hitting 47 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from behind the 3-point line and 83 percent from the free throw line. But CU's 18 turnovers allowed Wilmington to hang close.

Campbellsville jumped to its biggest lead early in the second half after Dii'jon Allen-Jordan picked up a steal and went coast-to-coast for a dunk, pushing the Tigers ahead by 27 points, 51-24.

Then Wilmington got back in the game by going on a 26-15 run and cutting the lead to 16 points, 66-50, with 7:53 remaining. The Fightin' Quakers had only two players in double figures, as Christian Jones scored 11 points while Zach McCorkle finished with 10 to lead Wilmington.

After Wilmington cut the lead to its smallest since the score was 26-10, the Tigers outscored the Fightin Quakers, 18-16 in the final 7:53.

The Tigers were led by Harding's 17, while Allen-Jordan finished with 15 points – 11 of those coming from the free throw line (11-of-14). Scott finished with 13 points and Hagen Tyler pitched in 12 — hitting 3-of-6 from behind the arc and all three free throw attempts.

Campbellsville out-manned Wilmington on the boards, grabbing 47 compared to only 30 for the Fightin' Quakers. But CU struggled with getting others involved in the action, as the Tigers combined for only nine assists – their second lowest mark of the season – after averaging almost 17 per contest.

The Tigers will re-enter Mid-South Conference play, as they welcome Life University to Powell Athletic Center on Thursday, Jan. 7. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and fans can watch the game live on the CU Sports Network – www.portal.stretchinternet.com/camp/
