WILMORE, Ky. – Lady Tiger swimming traveled to Asbury University over the weekend for a double dual with the Eagles and the Bethel Wildcats, collecting multiple season bests and two NAIA cuts.
The Lady Tigers teamed up to earn the two NAIA "A" standards in the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays.
Faith Hyde,
Lauren Dalton,
Lexie Upton, and
Sara Beth Howard conquered the NAIA standard of 2:09.97 by over six seconds with a time of 2:03.54. Dalton swam the fastest split in the race and a season-best of 26.01 to help the Lady Tigers gain the first-place finish.
Howard and Hyde joined
Jen Lewis and
Jessica Cook to grab the second NAIA standard in the 800 freestyle relay. The quad earned third place with a time of 9:08.87, surpassing the standard by almost three seconds.
The freshman Dalton rounded out her day with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.70 and a first-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:59.85. Upton followed close behind in the 400 IM placing second with 5:21.22.
Fellow freshman
Sara Beth Howard grabbed a victory in the 50-yard freestyle swimming a 26.12, and then a second-place spot in the 100-yard freestyle with 58.08.
Senior
Emily Hunter swam a 2:15.40 in the 200-yard freestyle earning second place. Also earning a second place,
Jen Lewis swam the 500-yard freestyle in 6:02.37.
Coach
Casey Smith expressed her pride in how the team performed, saying "the team worked very hard during the meet and I am thrilled with the results."
The Lady Tiger swim team will return home Saturday, Nov. 5 to host Lindsey Wilson and Union College in Powell Athletic Center at 11 a.m.
