FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — Lady Tiger swimming traveled to Emmanuel College this weekend for a quad meet with the Lions, Bethel University and Point University and Campbellsville came away with five NAIA standards and a 2-1 record.
Campbellsville defeated Bethel University for the second straight weekend, 103-57, and Point University, 120-49, but fell to Emmanuel, 154-46.
The Lady Tigers had a trio of NAIA "A" standards in two separate relay events. In the 200 yard medley,
Faith Hyde,
Lauren Dalton,
Kate Bouldin and
Sara Beth Howard finished in second place with a time of 2:04.55, as Howard swam the final split at a remarkable time of 26:40 – the second fast split in the race – smashing the NAIA standard time of 2:09.97.
In addition, the Lady Tigers had a pair of "A" cuts in the 200 yard freestyle, as three-members from the team above, only
Lexie Upton replaced Bouldin, finished in second with a time of 1:50.33.
Then Bouldin teamed up with
Jen Lewis,
Casey Galyon and
Jessica Cook to finish in fifth with a time of 1:55.04 – just eclipsing the standard by .35.
In individual races, a pair of Lady Tigers finished with NAIA "B" standards.
Lauren Dalton finished with a second place time of 2:18.54 in the 200 yard IM. Emmanuel's Sarita Duarte swam the final split at 31.95, compared to 33.43 for Dalton, to finish in first place by only 0.20 seconds.
Also, fellow freshman
Sara Beth Howard swam into second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26:24 – just missing first by 0.50 seconds.
"Our team did really well this weekend," said coach
Casey Smith. "There were a lot of really good swims and great competition across the board. Also you can really see the growth in endurance with the team during these races, as the back half of all of their swims seem to be really strong. This meet has been a really good experience for them, as we had a change in competition lineups but everyone did their jobs and it was a team effort up and down the lineup."
After competing for three weeks in a row, the Tigers will have a few weeks to prepare for a dual at Asbury College on Friday, Oct. 28. CU returns home on Saturday, Nov. 5 to host Lindsey Wilson and Union College in Powell Athletic Center.
