BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Campbellsville University dodged bullets all night long, but it was a missile by
Yudai Yamauchi in a shootout after 110 minutes of scoreless soccer that gave the Tigers their first Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship tonight at Warren East High School's Jim Ross Field.
For the record, the match was a tie. But a 5-3 advantage in penalty kicks won CU (15-0-3) the automatic qualifier for a NAIA Tournament bid. The Tigers currently hold the NAIA's longest unbeaten streak at 36 games (31-0-5).
Lindsey Wilson (13-4-2) applied pressure all night long — throwing 29 shots (eight on goal) at keeper
Gonzalo Sapena. He stopped every one of them to give him 47 saves on the year.
But his biggest save came on the Blue Raiders' first penalty kick when he stopped an attempt by Franck Bikoya. That gave the Tigers all the room they would need to slip through the championship door.

Pak Hei Chan all put kicks past LWC keeper Caio Bergamo during the shootout.
Campbellsville attempted 13 shots, four on goal. Chan led the charge with three shots while Yamauchi had two.

LWC's Aleksi Pahkasalo led all players with 10 shots, four on goal.
Campbellsville was issued four yellow cards during the highly-contested match.
