Tigers advance in Mid-South Tournament, defeat Life 8-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Second-seed Campbellsville University breezed in its opening-round match against Life University today in the Mid-South Conference Tournament, 8-0.

The win moves the Tigers to a conference semifinal match, which will be played on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Jim Ross Field on the campus of Warren East High School. The Tigers will play the winner of the 3- vs. 6-seed match between Cumberland (Tenn.) and Georgetown College.

The Tigers (14-0-2) got the only score it would need in the ninth minute when MSC Freshman of the Year, Ignacio Mangada, booted one past Life keeper, Joe Davis.

Davis would make 15 saves on the day, but Campbellsville completely dominated play, totaling 51 shots, 23 on goal.

Life (1-15) did not have a shot on goal, choosing to play eight men on defense in two lines within 35 yards of the goal.

Guilherme Fanck had two goals and an assist and Diego Morales also added two goals.

Solo goals were scored by Lucas Cury, Gabriel DeFreitas and Nathan Heath. Heath's was a penalty kick in the 19th minute. Heath also added an assist, as did Joao Gomiero and Cameron Gray.
