Lady Tiger hoops opens season tonight at Bethel's Chamber Classic

McKENZIE, Tenn. — The 2016-17 women's basketball season opens tonight, as the fourth-ranked Lady Tigers travel to Bethel University for the 4th Annual Chamber Classic.

Campbellsville will open the season for the second-straight year against Harris-Stowe State University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Fans can tune in on the Campbellsville University Sports Network at 6:45 to hear tonight's season opener – www.CampbellsvilleTigers.com/watch.

Head coach Ginger Colvin is entering her 10th season at the helm of CU and boasts an overall record of 245-66. The Lady Tigers have reached the NAIA Quarterfinals 10 times with an NAIA Fab Four and championship game appearance in 2014-15.

After graduating NAIA Player of the Year Lindsey Burd last season, Campbellsville is looking for an inside presence that will work together with one of the best backcourts in all of NAIA women's basketball.

NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Emily Fox returns for her senior campaign after hitting 110 3-pointers last season to lead the country. She is joined by arguably one of the best point guards in the country, LeeAnn Grider. Grider, who went down with an ACL injury last season in the NAIA Quarterfinal loss to Benedictine, is ready to go for her senior season after leading the NAIA with a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio and No. 3 in total assists with 192. She is also a pesky defender, as her and Lexxus Graham ranked fourth and seventh in the NAIA with 93 and 85 assists, respectively.

Campbellsville also returns sharp-shooter Madison Clements after she missed every game but one last season due to a wrist injury.

Harris-Stowe is coming in with a 1-0 record after beating Cardinal Stritch University 56-47 in its season opener on Oct. 29.

After tonight's opener, Campbellsville will play game two of the Chamber Classic against Hiwassee College on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Crisp Arena in McKenzie, Tenn. Fans can tune in on the CU Sports Network at 3:45 for audio coverage.
