CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville qualified eight for championship matches and won three of the 10 weight divisions in taking the 2
nd Annual NAIA Women's Wrestling Invitational today in the Powell Athletic Center.
CU scored 163.5 points and beat University of the Cumberlands, which finished second, by 9 ½ points in the five-team field. Missouri Baptist was third (139.5), Life University (116) fourth and Lyon (38) was fifth.
101: Lindsey Prozanski was runner-up in this division, suffering a 10-0 tech fall in the final to Sarah Allen of University of the Cumberlands. Prozanski won her opening match, winning by a 12-0 tech fall to Cumberlands Maia Phanthadara.
109: CU's
Charlotte Fowler went 3-0 in pool matches and then lost to a 2-1 decision Arelys Valles of Cumberlands in the title match.
CU's MaKenzie Bacich finished sixth, losing when she was injured in the sixth-place match.
116: Katie Hawthorne wrestled her way to the third-place match, but lost a 6-0 decision to Cumberlands' Sidney Salinas.
Maria Ramos finished fifth.
123: Andribeth Rivera was undefeated on the day in winning this division with an entertaining 17-10 decision over Missouri Baptist's Tamara Tillman.
130: Kayla Miracle rolled through this division, winning her first three rounds without losing a point. The junior then beat Kristin Yamasaki of Cumberlands with a pin in 2:24. She was also named the Most Outsanding Wrestler.
136: Steffani Hampton picked up a fourth-place finish and
Shelby Hall was sixth in this division. Hampton succumbed to injury in her third-place match.
143: Sophia Carson tacked down a third-place finish with a 9-2 decision over Missouri Baptist's Marisela Delayo-Fierr.
155: Mariah Harris defeated her teammate
Morgan Becker 8-1 to win this division. The pair ran through pool matches with 3-0 records.
170: Cumberlands' Jessika Rottier won 10-0 over
Hanna Hall in the finale. Hall posted a perfect 3-0 mark in pool play.
Kaitlyn Hill finished fourth, losing her third-place match 19-8.
191: Rebecca Carson ran into a buzz saw in her final, losing her final 10-0 to Missouri Baptist's Darcia Manning.
