Cook earns impressive feat, Howard leads CU vs. Cumberlands

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Hosting University of the Cumberlands for the final dual of the 2016 calendar year, Lady Tiger swimming lost 154-33.

Jessica Cook, a senior from Tilbury, Ontario, was one of the Lady Tigers that highlighted the evening for Campbellsville, as she completed one of the hardest feats in all of swimming – competing in every event throughout her collegiate career. Tonight, Cook raced in the 400 Meter IM and earned two points for CU with a third place finish.

In addition, the Lady Tigers raced in the 800 freestyle relay for the first time in program history. The team of Katy Lewis, Sarah Beth Howard, Cook and Jen Lewis finished second and earned four points with a time of 10:18.89.

"It was a great way to end this semester and a long fall of training and meets," said coach Casey Smith. "I am very proud of the team's hard work so far this season and really look forward to our winter training, and spring semester of competition too."

Howard was one of eight Lady Tigers to earn points tonight. Howard was the last leg of the 200-meter medley relay and second leg of the 800 freestyle relay, while also earning two points in the 100-meter backstroke. The relays finished in second place, while Howard finished in second by just .24 seconds in the 50 freestyle.

Jen and Katy Lewis also earned points for CU on relays and individual events. Katy Lewis was the third leg in the 200 medley relay, while being the first in the 800 freestyle relay. Lewis also finished in third place to earn another two points in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:31.70.

Jen Lewis finished third in the 800-meter freestyle to earn two points and was the final leg in the 800 freestyle relay.

Other Lady Tigers to earn points for CU were – Mikayla Runner (100 freestyle, 1:10.72) and Kennedy Ludwig (100 breaststroke, 1:30.51). Faith Hyde and Lexie Upton were the first and second legs, respectively, of the 200 medley relay.
