WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. —
Rebecca Carson pinned Alysia Baker in the final match last night to forge a comeback, as Campbellsville's women beat conference rival University of the Cumberlands, 22-18.
The win helped CU women's wrestling to a 3-0 night in duals with the host school, Life University and Emmanuel College.
The Lady Tigers trailed coming in to the 191-lbs. match that Carson won in impressive fashion in 45 seconds.
Campbellsville fought back all night, trailing 5-0, 6-3 and 9-3 before a forfeit win by
Andribeth Rivera at 123 lbs. brought the CU women to within 9-8.
Steffani Hampton pulled off a 3-0 decision at 136 lbs. over UC's Ismileyna Valles to draw the match even before
Shelby Hall lost a 5-0 decision to Maya Nelson at 143 lbs. and another deficit, 15-12.
Morgan Becker's forfeit win gave CU a short-lived 17-15 lead that was immediately relinquished when Jessika Rottler beat CU's
Mariah Harris 5-0 at 170 lbs. and Cumberlands took an 18-17 edge.
That's when Carson pulled off her big win.
