BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Tiger and Lady Tiger bowling completed their regular season this weekend with two tournaments. In the second event of the weekend, the women's team brought home a third-place finish, and CU's Jonathan Henderson matched that performance, also taking the bronze, in the men's individual competition at Union College's Bulldog Classic.

The Lady Tigers sat in third at the end of the first day of team games after bowling 946 and 960 for two of the five games. They maintained their position in the 16-team field into day two, finishing with a total of 6,706 pins for the weekend. University of Pikeville won the women's team title with 7, 212 pins.
On the men's side, the Tigers positioned themselves in fourth place after team games with a 5,118-pin count. Baker game totals hurt CU, and they dropped to eighth on day two, finishing with 7,222 pins. Morehead State University took first, knocking down 7,911 pins of their own.
Individually, Chelsey Stephens was the top performer for CU. She surpassed her total from Friday by nearly 100 pins, finishing in ninth place among 131 competitors. She bowled 202 and 205 in two games to total 977 pins in five games. Katlyn Hoeh followed closely in 17th place with a 933-pin total. Bailey James, who took the individual title at the Thomas Burris Memorial Classic on Friday, earned a 22nd-place finish with 917 pins.
Other finishers for CU were: Ashley Newman (43rd, 832), Mercedes Cote (44th, 826), Haley Wade (75th, 761), Mackenzie Taylor (76th, 744,) and Emily Florence (77th, 742). Keysha Martin bowled four games for CU and scored 674, while sister Kylah bowled 154 for one game. Destiny Harper of Emmanuel University won the women's title with 1,032 pins.
Jon Henderson finished third in the men's 160-man field, eclipsing his Friday's total by 361 pins. Two 233-pin games, along with one at 246, helped Henderson to his highest finish yet with a 1,130-pin total. Ryan Bremer finished 14th for CU after bowling three games at 229, 230, and 231. His score of 1,074 was exactly 70 pins more than that of Christian Thurman, the next-highest finisher for Campbellsville. Thurman knocked down 1,004 pins, good for 35th place. Devon Gunderson and Andrew Lissik finished in 39th and 41st place respectively, Gunderson with 994 pins and Lissik with 988.
Other Tigers that competed were: Hudson Haynes (56th, 932), Zach Prince (73rd, 876), Matthew Wehle (77th, 867), River Neal (108th, 698), and Drake Tyler (111th, 682).
"It was a very long weekend, but very productive living in the postseason," coach Jamie Lawrence said. "We figured out a few things about who we are as a team and what we're actually capable of. We are very excited about the potential at the conference championships."
The Tigers and Lady Tigers take one weekend off before heading to Southern Lanes in Bowling Green, Ky., on February 12-13, for the Mid-South Conference Championships.
