INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ryan Bremer bowled his way to seventh place for the Tigers, while Chelsey Stephens led the Lady Tigers with a sixth-place finish at the 47th Annual Hoosier Classic.
Following his Mid-South Conference victory last weekend, Bremer continued his impressive performance with scores of 274 and 276 in two of the nine singles games. His 1,918 pins helped him finish in the seventh spot out of 555 competitors.
Bremer was followed by Andrew Lissik, who tied for 113th place with 1,626 pins and Devon Gunderson close behind in 121st place with 1,611.
Travis London bowled six games for the Tigers, scoring 981, while Zach Prince bowled four games for 641 total pins. Webber International's Andrew Anderson took the top spot with a 2,059 pin-count.
In the team competition, Campbellsville placed 49th of 78. Five individual scores were totaled for each of the nine individual games, giving the Tigers a total of 8,065 pins. Calumet won the team competition with a score of 9,446.
The Lady Tigers faired better in women's team play, finishing in 15th place out of 66 teams. Together their scores added up to a pin-count of 8,445, less than 100 pins behind Wichita State, who took the title with 9,257.
Individually, Stephens once again led the Lady Tigers in scoring, knocking down 1,852 pins. While her scores never dropped below 186, her game of 245 helped land her in sixth place in the 429-woman field.
Crystal Land just missed the top 50, finishing with 1,705 pins in 51st place. Bailey James took 64th place for the Lady Tigers, bowling 1,663. Katlyn Hoeh (84th, 1,618) and Keysha Martin (196th, 1,326) rounded out CU scoring.
Katelyn Simpson, who finished just behind Stephens at the MSC competition last weekend, won the title for Pikeville with 1,966 pins.
CU bowling will take a break after two consecutive weekends. They return to the lanes March 11-13 for the XBowl Intercollegiate singles and team sectionals held in Smyrna, Tenn.
