No. 3 CU finds stroke against St. Catharine, dominating 86-46

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. — For the fourth straight game senior Lindsey Burd registered a double-double and Campbellsville women's basketball dominated St. Catharine College, 86-46.

Campbellsville (21-4, 8-2 MSC) got out of its shooting funk and lit a flame to the nets, hitting 53 percent from the floor and 43 percent from behind the 3-point line.

Burd led the Lady Tigers with 29 points and 17 rebounds and also dished out five assists. Emily Fox found her stroke, hitting four 3's and scoring 14 points, while Lexxus Graham also finished in double figures with 10 points.

LeeAnn Grider caused havoc for St. Catharine all day. The junior guard finished with nine points, a game-high six assists and also tying Graham with four steals. Campbellsville had 14 takeaways and forced a season-high 28 turnovers for St. Catharine - tying the same mark with University of Pikeville on Jan. 14.

Campbellsville allowed St. Catharine to hang around through the first quarter, leading by seven points, 22-15. But the Lady Tigers rolled in the final 30 minutes of play.

Burd scored the first of her 11-straight points with 8:35 remaining in the second quarter to give Campbellsville its first double-digit lead, 27-17. From there it wasn't much of a contest, as Campbellsville outscored St. Catharine 59-29 the rest of the game.

Campbellsville held the Patriots to only hitting 35 percent (17-of-49) from the floor and 30 percent (4-of-13) from behind the 3-point line. All four of the Patriots 3's came in the first four minutes of the game before the media timeout.

CU picked up 36 points in the paint and scored 28 points on the 28 St. Catharine turnovers.

Campbellsville will be back in action for its second of three-straight road games on Thursday, Feb. 11. The Lady Tigers travel to University of Pikeville with the doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. ET.
