CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — KCU's Katelyn Miller shut down CU in an eight-inning one-hitter, but the Lady Tigers rallied with three homers in the second game to earn a split today over Kentucky Christian University.

GAME 1: Kentucky Christian 1, Campbellsville 0 (8 innings) 

Victoria Decker (5-4) pitched good enough to win most games, throwing a four-hitter and not walking anyone over eight innings. She also struck out seven.

But Katelyn Miller was a little better for the Knights, allowing only a single in the fourth to Adrean Jordan.

Campbellsville did strand six after Miller issued three walks and hit two batters.

KCU (9-5) used the International Tie Breaker to its advantage in the top of the eighth. With Kailey Rigdon on second, Whitney McKay singled in the winning run.

With Kalin Bottoms at second for CU (10-6) in the bottom of the eighth, Miller got Madison Mudd on bunt-attempt final strike and Jacqueline Roof and Shelby Ray made outs at short to end the game.


GAME 2: Campbellsville 4, Kentucky Christian 1

Markie Smith, Rebecca Miller and Adrean Jordan all went yard for CU (11-6) accounting for all the runs in the 4-1 win.

All the hitting took place in the second and third innings. Smith homered to tie the game 1-1 in the second and Miller and Jordan drilled four-baggers in the third. Shelby Ray doubled to lead off the third and scored on Miller's home run. Jordan's solo shot came with one out. Madison Mudd had a single to round out the hitting.

Neely Quint (6-2) pitched a four-hitter, walking one and striking out two. She got in trouble in the second after allowing a leadoff single to Jade Spurlock. She then made two throwing errors on successive plays to second and first, allowing Spurlock to score.

Jenna Edwards gave up five hits from the circle for KCU (9-6).

Campbellsville stays at home to host Davenport on Saturday, March 12. First pitch for the doubleheader at Veterans Memorial Park is set for noon.
