Scott, Erickson backup Przybylek's gem in win over #10 Lindsey Wilson

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Nick Przybylek allowed a run in the first inning but shut down the 10th-ranked Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders for the remaining six and two-thirds, and Jake Pannunzio picked up a four-out save to seal CU's 3-1 win.

Przybylek (5-1) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits and the one first-inning run in a 119 pitch performance. Pannunzio (9) came in to shut the door in the eighth and pitched around a leadoff walk in the ninth to seal his Mid-South Conference leading ninth save.

Scott Sebald (5-2) had a stellar appearance on the mound for Lindsey Wilson but Campbellsville came through with three two-out singles to plate all of its runs.

Casey Scott and Cody Erickson led the Tigers at the plate, both recording three hits. Scott ended up scoring two of the CU runs and Erickson delivered two of the three RBI. The second RBI for Erickson was crucial, coming with two outs in the eighth inning, giving CU and Pannunzio some breathing room.

Riley Joyce chipped in the third RBI with a two-out single pushing the Tigers ahead for good in the sixth inning, 2-1.

Campbellsville improves to 20-11 and 5-5 inside the Mid-South Conference. Lindsey Wilson fell to 26-12 and 7-3 in conference play. The two teams meet tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. ET at HIG Field.

Lindsey Wilson scratched the first run as Przybylek came out a little amped up. After allowing a leadoff single to Alex Solcedo and hitting Edgar Lebron with a pitch, Aaron Ashton moved the runners up with a deep fly ball to right-center field.

Przybylek tossed a wild pitch to score Solcedo from third base but Lebron got greedy and was trying to score from second, getting tagged out 5-1 on the play.

Lindsey Wilson's next eighth innings were scoreless.

The Tigers knotted the game back at one in the bottom half of the first and took advantage of a rocky start by Sebald and his battery mate Dustin Woody. After a one-out single by CU's Scott, Sebald tossed a wild pitch and a passed ball by Woody allowed Scott to advance to third. He eventually scored on the first RBI single by Erickson.

LWC worked its first two runners on base in the second inning but Przybylek found his groove. He sat down 13 of the next 16 batters to get the Tigers to the seventh inning.

In the sixth, Scott led off with a double and was moved to third on a sac bunt by Cameron Ketchen. Then Joyce delivered the game-winner two batters later.

In the top of the seventh inning, Przybylek allowed two singles to Jan Carlos Ortiz and pinch hitter Miguel Reyes but he picked up his sixth strikeout and induced a groundball to end the Lindsey Wilson threat.

Pannunzio came out of the bullpen with two outs in the eighth and a base runner on first but worked Javone Thomas into a groundball to end the inning.

The Tigers played add-on in the eighth with another leadoff base runner coming around to score. Nestor Linares singled and was moved to second base by Scott on a sac bunt. Two batters later, Erickson delivered the insurance run with a seeing-eye single to left field.

Pannunzio allowed a leadoff walk to Ortiz in the ninth but Lindsey Wilson was unable to sniff another base runner giving the Tiger game one of the series.
