Wiley earns NCCAA All-American at national championships

ROME, Ga. — As the NCCAA championship meet came to a close, several Lady Tigers and Tigers left it all on the track and field as six personal bests were set and two school records were shattered during the two-day meet.

"I am so proud of my athletes," said coach Hilary Lakes. "They came to compete this weekend and that is exactly what they did. Many broke their personal best and some new school records were set. Overall, it was a great meet and I am pleased with everyone's effort."

Paxton Wiley was named an NCCAA All-American from Campbellsville as he placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. Wiley covered the hurdles in 15.24 seconds. Clayton Embry finished eighth in 16.14. Wiley will head to the NAIA National Championship in Gulf Shores for the 110-meter hurdles at the end of May.

Crawford placed eighth as he crossed the finish line in 3:59.77, the first time the school mark has been under four minutes. Adam Sandidge set the old school record of 4:00.38 last weekend at the Billy Hayes Invite in Bloomington, Ind.

Conner Stockton missed the finals by two places but threw a personal best in the men's shot put. Stockton has been working all season and he threw 13.10 meters, adding more distance the last three track meets.

Garland Webb finished Top 8 in eighth place in the men's long jump. He leaped 6.66 meters, only 0.03 away from setting a new person best for himself. In the triple jump, Webb placed ninth but recorded a new PR at the distance of 13.27 meters.

The Lady Tigers collected 10 points the last two days at the NCCAA championship meet. They placed 16th out of 25 teams. For the Tigers, they scored 15 points over the course of the two-day meet. They placed 15th out of 23 teams.
