KUTTAWA, Ky. — With the FLW College Fishing National Championship scheduled for the fall of 2016, Campbellsville University bass fishing will have a boat in the field. The duo of Cameron Brooks and Mason Sapp finished second in the FLW College Fishing Central Conference Tournament on Lake Barkley this weekend.

Brooks and Sapp, both sophomore anglers, reeled in a total of 15 pounds seven ounces on Saturday. With the second place finish, CU will receive $1,000 for its scholarship fund.
The McKendree University team of Trent Robinson and Jordan Ledbetter, both of Carlyle, Ill., won the FLW Central Conference event. The Bearcats duo reeled in 17 pounds, 10 ounces to outpace CU and earn a $2,000 scholarship.
Murray State's Chandler Christian and Lance Freeman finished in third with five bass weighing in a 15-5. Southern Illinois University boat of Mason Bishop and Kyle Wagner also had five bass at 15-2, while Illinois State University's Nick Kirton and Seth Becker finished in fifth place with 15 pounds. The teams that placed third through fifth all received $500 scholarships.
The Top 10 teams advanced to the 2017 College Fishing National Championship with times and dates to be announced in October.
This FLW College Fishing Central Conference event on Lake Barkley was the second regular-season qualifying tournament in the Central conference. The next event for Central Conference anglers is the regular-season finale scheduled for July 9 on the Mississippi River in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
FLW College Fishing teams compete in regular-season qualifying tournaments in one of five conferences – Central, Northern, Southern, Southeastern and Western. The top ten teams from each division's three regular-season tournaments and the top 15 teams from the annual FLW College Fishing Open will advance to the 2017 FLW College Fishing National Championship.
