CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. —
Nathan Heath scored a pair of penalty kicks for his first goals of the season to lead Campbellsville men's soccer over Trinity International on Saturday afternoon, 4-0.
Heath's goals came in the first and second periods and were sandwiched in-between scores by
Rickard Hallin and
Marco Galeano.
Hallin started the scoring in the seventh minute, giving CU a lead they would never surrender. Heath then added on to the Tigers lead in the 27
th minute after the Trojans' TJ Cake fouled
Mark Callaghan in the box.
Campbellsville took a 2-0 lead into halftime after dominating the possession, finishing with 15 first-half shots compared to just three for Trinity International.
The second half was much like the first, though. Campbellsville kept the possession and put together 17 shots - six on goal – for a total of 32 total attempts today.
Heath gave CU a 3-0 advantage in the 67
th minute with another PK after a hand ball was called in the 18-yard box.
Galeano then scored his first goal of the season after receiving a pass from senior
Ross Lindsay pushing CU's advantage to 4-0 in the 84
th minute.
Campbellsville's
Gonzalo Sapena had a fairly easy day in goal, finishing with two saves on eight Trojans shots. Trinity International's Jared Yonke finished with eight saves.
The 12
th-ranked Tigers improve their record to 4-0, while Trinity International falls to 1-4.
Campbellsville returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Oakland City. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
