MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Campbellsville's women put together another solid first round today, shooting 298 on the opening day of the Mid-South Conference Fall Championship at the Windtree Golf Club. The Lady Tigers lead the seven-team conference field by seven shots.
Cassidy Scantland set the pace for CU with an opening round 70 (33-37) that puts her in the individual lead by two shots over University of the Cumberlands' Rachel Pingleton.
Scantland nearly covered the par-72 layout with a bogey-free round that included three birdies on the front and one on the back for her two-under total. A double bogey on the par five 10
th, her final hole, was the only blemish on her card.
Kylie Withrow was even par through her first 12 holes until a double bogey sabotaged her round. Withrow was solid most of the day, stringing together seven straight pars before the double bogey. Her one-over round included two birdies and places her in third place overall.
Campbellsville had four players in the Top 10 with
Anna-Marie Hyatt and
Michaela Jarman holding down a tie for fifth place with matching four-over-par 76s.
Hyatt fired identical 38s for her 76 with five bogeys and a birdie. Jarman also had five bogeys and a birdie, but fired nines of 40-36 as an individual.
Laura McQueen is tied for 12
th. She was one-over on her opening nine, but doubled her 10
th hole and went on to shoot 42 for a seven-over 79.
Ashley Goodin shot 84 (44-40), tied for 30
th.
Kayla Rodgers became ill prior to her round and withdrew from her opening round.
