CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The ninth-ranked Tigers scored six second half goals and ran past Midway University on Monday night, 7-nil.
Ross Lindsay and
Joao Gomiero led the Tigers with four of the six CU goals, while
Guilherme Fanck and
Yudai Yamaguchi added the other two. Campbellsville also took advantage with an own goal by the Eagles.
CU dominated the possession for the majority of the night, finishing with 22 shots compared to only three for Midway. Goalkeeper
Gonzalo Sapena ended the night with just one second-half save.
Lindsay, a senior from Paisley, Scotland, got the scoring started in the 19
th minute off a free kick to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead at the break.
But after the intermission, an own goal by Midway in the 47
th sparked CU's second half. Gomiero started the second frame and gained confidence right out of the gates.
Marco Galeano found Gomiero in the 55
th minute for his first goal, then Gomiero was in the right place at the right time in the 68
th minute, rebounding a Fanck shot and putting the Tigers ahead 4-0.
In the 73
rd minute, Gomiero found Fanck in the middle before he dished on to Lindsay for his second goal of the night. Lindsay pushes his team-lead to four goals on the season.
Campbellsville played add on in the the final 10 minutes, as Fanck received a pass from
Mark Callaghan in the 83
rd to score and
Yudai Yamaguchi also scored off a Callaghan assist in the 90
th. The two assists now push Callaghan's mark to three of the season.
Midway's Christian Neira finished the night with eight saves.
