GRAYSON, Ky. — Men's soccer utilized some of its newest additions to take advantage of Kentucky Christian University, winning 6-0 Tuesday afternoon.
"I was happy with the final result today," complimented assistant coach
Alex Adams, "We were able to use a lot of different players and try some combinations we haven't been able to see yet this season. We saw some good things from several of the younger guys."
Ignacio Mangada and
Lucas Cury, both who have seen less than 25 minutes of play so far this season, carried their weight this afternoon. Mangada scored twice in the first half, then again in the 89th minute to cap a hat trick, the first of his CU career. Cury scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in the 47th and 67th minutes.
Senior
Diego Morales earned the sixth goal for the Tigers in the 65
th minute to contribute to the 6-0 win.
While the outlook is positive for the young team, there are still some kinks to work out in existing tactics.
"We started off a little slow today, but were able to get more of a rhythm going in the second half," said Adams. "We're going to continue to work on speed of play and converting our chances as we go into Saturday's game."
The Tigers will return to Finley Stadium this Saturday, Sept. 10 to face Trinity International at 2 p.m. They will continue their road schedule at Oakland City on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. to take on the Mighty Oaks.
