Lady Tigers turn defense into offense, rout Georgetown 82-53

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville went on a 10-0 run in the middle of the second quarter and Georgetown was unable to answer, as the Lady Tigers rolled past its long-time rival, 82-53.

With 8:04 left in the second quarter, Emily Fox scored two of her game-high 17 points to give the seventh-ranked Lady Tigers their first lead, 13-11. That sparked Campbellsville's 10-0 run and the Lady Tigers out-scored GC 18-10 the rest of the half and took a 31-21 lead.

Campbellsville (17-2, 4-1 MSC) used its defense to turn into offense tonight by forcing 25 turnovers and scoring 31 points off those Georgetown (5-13, 1-4 MSC) miscues. CU also scored 44 points in the paint and 38 bench points compared to just 16 and 19 for Georgetown, respectively.

The difference maker, besides the 10-0 run that sparked CU in the second quarter, was the Lady Tigers scored 30 third-quarter points compared to just 11 for Georgetown.

Campbellsville opened the third quarter with a 18-4 run to push its lead to 20 points for the first time all night, 47-25. CU ended up pushing its third-quarter lead to 29 at the end of the frame, after Madison Kaiser drilled her first-career Edward Jones 3-point basket.

The Lady Tigers pushed their lead to 30 points after Jordan Doram and Lexxus Graham capitalized on consecutive baskets in the four quarter. Georgetown was unable to get that lead under 30 until Kennedy Flynn scored with 32 seconds left in the contest.

Behind Fox's 17, CU had four others in double-figures. Madison Stewart finished with 14 points and hit all five of her field goals and all four free throws. She also grabbed four boards and dished out two assists in 21 minutes. Madison Clements scored 12 points and Jordan Doram finished with 11, while also hitting all five field goals.

Campbellsville will remain at home on Saturday for another Mid-South Conference game. The Lady Tigers host No. 10 Shawnee State at 2 p.m. with WLCU's coverage starting at 1:45 p.m. ET on the Campbellsville University Sports Network.
