TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Tiger track and field completed its season opener with seven National Christian College Athletic Association cuts, six first place awards and an overall third place finish at Rose-Hulman Invitational.
Brayden Russell showed out in field events with first and second place finishes in the triple jump and high jump, respectively. He completed the triple jump with 12.54-meter and the high jump at 1.82-meter, both qualifying for the NCCAA Championship.
Paxton Wiley earned the Tigers another field victory with a 6.44-meter Long jump, enough for another NCCAA cut. Wiley joined
Brandon Battle,
Edwin Ford and
Jaron Jackson for the 4x200-meter relay to begin the track events for the Tigers. The team completed the relay in second place with a time of 1:32.57.
A couple of freshmen earned national cuts in the 60-meter events.
Tyler Lewis finished first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.81 seconds and
Edwin Ford placed first in the 60-meter dash with a time 7.10 seconds.
Battle closed out the sprints with a first place finish and an NCCAA standard in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.60 seconds.
On the distance side, junior
Adam Sandidge earned 10 points for the Tigers with a first-place finish in the 1-mile run. He completed the event in 4:26.83, enough for another NCCAA cut.
Bret Crawford and Sandidge competed in the 800-meter run, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, to collect seven more points for Campbellsville to round out the overall score of 94. Crawford ran the race in 2:03.96, followed closely by Sandidge in 2:04.50.
