Lady Tigers second, Tigers ninth at LWC Bakers Classic

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Campbellsville bowling competed in the final Mid-South Conference event of the season this past weekend and the Lady Tigers came away with a second-place finish in the Lindsey Wilson College Baker Classic.
 
The Lady Tigers finished behind MSC regular season champion University of Pikeville by 237 pints. The Bears had four games in the 700's and two in the 800's to win consecutive titles.
 
Pikeville also won the Classic on the men's side as well with 7716 pins. The Tigers finished in ninth place with 6719 pins.
 
The Lady Tigers came out of the gates strong with a first-round score of 746 and took a commanding lead. But it was Pikeville and Union College which answered with team scores in the 700's for the second block. CU had a strong game in the third block with a score of 840, but the Lady Tigers could not hold on to the lead late.
 
Pikeville finished with scores of 861 and 818 in the fourth and fifth blocks, respectively, and Campbellsville was unable to recover.
 
Lindenwood-Belleville finished in third, while Martin Methodist place fourth and University of the Cumberlands rounded out the women's Top 5.
 
On the men's side, Pikeville and Martin Methodist dominated the field. The Bears started slow but used the final eight-straight blocks with scores of 700 or better – including a high-score of 845.
 
Campbellsville finished with the third round with 748 pins and the fourth with 812 but the Tigers slipped down the stretch with the ninth game at 564.
 
Lindenwood-Belleville finished in third place, while Bethel University placed fourth and Cumberlands rounded out the Top 5 once again.
 
Campbellsville will now travel to the 48th Annual Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday, Feb. 11 for its final regular season tournament.
