FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In their final dual of the NWCA National duals, the Lady Tigers finish in third place with a 31-14 win over No. 2 Oklahoma City University.
Two of the initial three matches of the dual resulted in a forfeit by Oklahoma City. Ruby Ariosa (101) and
Charlotte Fowler (116) collected five points each.
McKenzie Bacich (109) gave Oklahoma City its first points of the dual with a technical fall to Cassidy Jasperson, 10-0, bringing the score to 10-4 in Campbellsville's favor.
Andribeth Rivera (123) fired back with a win by technical fall over No. 3 Rachael Archer, 10-0, and sparked a six-match win streak for Campbellsville the rest of the way.
Koral Sugiyama (130) and
Shelby Hall (136) claimed victories by collecting three team points each. Sugiyama defeated Carla Ponce, 6-5, and Hall won over Hailey Garcia, 5-0. Campbellsville continued with the lead, 20-5.
Kayla Miracle (143) bumped up two weight classes to set the stage for two defending WCWA national champions to do battle. Miracle made quick work of Natalia Hinojo with a pin in 1:00 and removed any wind left in the sails of OCU.
No. 5 Rachel Watters won by technical fall over Campbellsville's
Mariah Harris (155). Oklahoma City grabbed three points with the 12-1 win.
Another forfeit by Oklahoma City allowed
Hanna Hall (170) to pick up five more points, keeping Campbellsville ahead, 31-11.
Rebecca Carson's (191) fall to No. 6 Monica Mason (1:59) gave Oklahoma City five more points, but it wasn't enough to lose the lead. Campbellsville finished the dual with 31 points over Oklahoma City's 14, claiming third in the NWCA National Duals.
The Lady Tigers will be in action again on Jan. 15 as they participate in the King University Tornado Open starting at 11 a.m.
