PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville started out cold and it never really got any better as Pikeville pinned a 76-60 loss on the Tigers today at The East Kentucky Expo Center.
Pikeville (16-3, 2-2 MSC) shot 51 percent from the field, 64 percent from 3 and 100 percent from the free throw line in turning back CU (9-6, 1-2 MSC).
Hagen Tyler, who shared the first-half scoring lead with Rod Lawrence with seven points, ended up leading all scorers with 22.
The Tigers never led. They fell behind by 11 (23-12) in the first half. It was nine points at the 1:47 mark, but UPIKE scored the last six points of the half and led at the break, 38-23.
Pikeville went on another 7-0 run midway through the second half and led, 51-34. Desmond Medder and Trey Rakes hit consecutive 3s and the Bear lead swelled to 20, 57-37.
Rod Lawrence and
Andre Applewhite scored 10 points apiece for CU. Altogether the Tigers hit 38 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3 and 60 percent from the free throw line.
Campbellsville was out-rebounded 37-27 and only had seven assists when averaging 16 on the season.
The Tigers stay on the road and in conference for a 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 game in Williamsburg, Ky. against the University of the Cumberlands.
