WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — In a game that could only be described as ugly on the offensive end the Lady Tigers were just a little prettier, defeating the University of the Cumberlands tonight in the O. Wayne Collins Center, 57-37.
Campbellsville (16-2, 3-1 MSC) committed 24 turnovers and shot only 37 percent, but still managed a 17-point lead in the first half.
The Lady Tigers were good on defense, though, forcing 28 turnovers and holding the Patriots (10-6, 2-2 MSC) to 27 percent shooting. In addition, CU held the Patriots to their lowest point total all season.
Lexxus Graham, a junior from Winchester, Ky., led Campbellsville with 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, 4-for-5 from behind the arc and perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. The rest of the team was 12-for-42, but with Graham's four 3s, CU was 50 percent (6-for-12) from behind the arc.
Cumberlands trailed 12-7 after the first 10 minutes of play and then was able to net only one shot in the second quarter, a layup by Brandi Williams midway through the period.
Graham and
Emily Fox hit back-to-back 3s midway through the third quarter for a 22-point (34-12) lead and held the lead at about that the remainder of the game. Cumberland did close to within 17 with three minutes to go in the game.
Graham was the only Lady Tiger in double figures. Ten Lady Tigers did score, however.
Abby Miller and
Madison Stewart led the team with five rebounds apiece. Miller also had three assists, as did
Madison Faulkner.
The Lady Tigers return home Thursday, Jan. 12 for a 6 p.m. game against Georgetown College in the Powell Athletic Center.
