MARIETTA, Ga. – The Campbellsville women's swimming picked up it first head-to-head victory of the season after it defeated Life University, 363-244, on Saturday night at the Mountain View Aquatic Center.
The Lady Tigers started the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay where the team of
Olivia Schneider,
Jen Lewis,
Katy Lewis and
Chelsie VanWhy finished in a time of 2:12.28.
Schneider then grabbed Campbellsville's first victory of the meet after completing the 1000-yard freestyle in 13:13.25, beating out Life's Leia Amos by nearly a minute.
Mikayla Runner and
Jen Lewis finished second and third in the 200-yard freestyle, respectively. The two touched the wall less than a second apart as Runner posted a time of 2:17.53 and
Jen Lewis had a time of 2:17.95.
In the 50-yard freestyle, after the Running Eagles' Carla Colon finished in 25.94 to win the event, the Lady Tigers had competitors finish second, third and fourth.
Lauren Sears finished second with a time of 27.26, followed by
Kennedy Ludwig (28.48) and
Autumn Turner (34.11).
Katy Lewis recorded her first of two back-to-back top-three finishes in the 200-yard individual medley finishing second with a 2:34.85. Lewis then finished third in the 100-yard butterfly after posting a mark of 1:06.43.
VanWhy and Runner picked up top-three finishes in the 100-yard freestyle where VanWhy was second overall (1:03.19) and Runner was just behind in third place (1:03.43).
Campbellsville swept the top-two spots in the 100-yard backstroke and 500-yard freestyle as the meet started to wind down. Sears won the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:08.08, followed by
Faith Hyde who touched the wall just over two seconds later.
Gabrielle Velez picked up the Lady Tigers' final individual victory of the meet with a time of 5:52.21 in the 500-yard freestyle. Schneider finished second in the event after notching a mark of 6:25.28.
The individual events concluded with Velez finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke, followed by
Jen Lewis in the third with time of 1:18.40 and 1:19.22, respectively.
Campbellsville rounded out the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay where Sears VanWhy, Hyde and Runner beat out the Life quartet by nearly 10 seconds after completing the race in 1:51.16.
The Lady Tigers are back in action during Homecoming week on Friday, Oct. 27 against Asbury University at 5:30 p.m. ET in Campbellsville, Ky.
