Six different goal scorers propels No. 14 Men’s Soccer to 10-0 win at Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Campbellsville men's soccer team raced past Shawnee State University on Saturday night to a 10-0 victory on the Shawnee Turf.
 
The Tigers (11-1-1, 5-0-1 Mid-South Conference) had six different players record a goal, led by Nathan Heath and Daniel Nimmo scoring two goals a piece. Heath also recorded an assist against the Bears (2-15-0, 0-6-0 MSC)
 
Campbellsville scored just 2:12 seconds into the match as Alek Blevins committed a foul inside the penalty are giving the Tigers a penalty kick. Heath converted from the penalty spot for his seventh goal of the season and he is now 6-for-6 on penalty kicks.
 
Just 24 seconds later, Campbellsville took a 2-0 lead after an own goal from Shawnee State. The Tigers continued to generate pressure on offense throughout the half as they finished with 14 shots and nine shots on goal.
 
In the 23rd minute, Nimmo gave Campbellsville a 3-0 lead after he poked home a shot from nearly six yards out and Cameron Badenhorst picked up the assist on the goal.
 
The Tigers took a 4-0 lead into the half after Yudai Yamauchi headed a cross from Rickard Hallin into the back of the net. Hallin now has a team-best five assists on the season.
 
Shawnee State only fired off two shots in the first half with just one forcing Andreas Nota to make a save.
 
Heath continued his run at successful penalty kicks in the 59th minute with his seventh goal from PKs this season.
 
Following the penalty kick, the Campbellsville offense got rolling once again. Shawnee State allowed its second own goal of the match in the 64th minute and Hallin scored his first goal of 2017 to go along with his five assists to give the Tigers a 7-0 advantage.
 
Nimmo tallied his second goal of the night in the 71st minute and Tulio Pinheiro scored for the first time this season just 50 seconds later to push Campbellsville's lead to nine. Moments later Jorge Martinez became the third Tigers to score their first goal of the season in the 77th minute and pushed the Campbellsville lead to 10 with just over 13 minutes left in regulation.
 
Campbellsville secured its eighth shutout of the season, which is tied for third in the NAIA, en route to a 10-0 victory.
 
This is the first time all season Campbellsville reached double-digit goals and first time since Oct. 25, 2016 in an 11-0 win over Life University.
 
The Tigers return home on Wednesday night to face No. 11 Lindsey Wilson College at 8 p.m. ET from Finley Stadium.
 
The winner of Wednesday's match will capture the outright Mid-South Conference regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Blue Raiders are a half-game ahead of Campbellsville in MSC standings at 6-0-0.
