WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Lady Tiger wrestling swept their competition on Day 1 of the University of the Cumberlands Patriot Duals on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers (3-0) started with a 46-4 win over Lindenwood-Belleville by dropping only one match at 155 lbs. CU then went on to defeat Ferrum, 41-4, and Life, 36-9
Freshman
McKayla Campbell went 3-0 overall but only wrestled in one match, earning a 10-0 tech fall.
Charlotte Fowler,
Mariah Harris,
Shelby Hall and
Courtney Gray were also perfect on the day with 3-0 records.
"The team wrestled great today," said coach
Lee Miracle. "We are really just trying to come together as a team and get better at our wrestling fundamentals.
"Right now we are only producing about 50 percent of what I think we are capable of. We don't have

Tiaira Scott, or
Grace Bullen in the lineup and we are being very careful about how much we wrestle
Kayla Miracle. She has the U23 World Championships in Poland coming up along with a trip to Las Angeles to wrestle against Japan followed by a trip to Russia for the World Cup (World Dual Team Championships).
Even though CU missed two WCWA National Champions (Rivera and Scott) and their highly touted signee in Bullen, Campbellsville dominated its competition today. Campbellsville out-scored opponents 123-17 in three dual wins over Life, Ferrum and Lindenwood-Belleville.
Campbellsville 46, Lindenwood-Belleville 4
CU took a 20-0 lead over the Lynx without even stepping on the mat, as LUB forfeited the first four weight classes and five overall.
Kayla Miracle and
Shelby Hall got the Lady Tigers on the board with a pin over Amanda Martinez at 130 lbs. and Maya Shimizu, respectfully. After a forfeit win at 143 lbs. for
Courtney Gray, Lindenwood-Belleville picked up its lone points as Niauni Hill upset
Morgan Becker via tech fall, 11-1.
Mariah Harris and
Raquel Valderrama both earned pins at 170 and 191 lbs., respectively, to finish the opening dual.
Campbellsville 41, Ferrum 4
In the second dual of the day, the Lady Tigers dropped just one match again at 130 lbs.
Katlyn Pizzo earned a forfeit victory at 101 lbs. and
Charlotte Fowler pushed the lead to 8-0 with a 10-0 tech fall.
Maria Ramos won via forfeit and that kick-started the Lady Tigers to winning six of the final seven matches.
McKayla Campbell won at 123 lbs.,
Shelby Hall earned a pin at 136 lbs., Gray pulled out a tech fall win and Becker avenged an earlier loss with a pin in 1:53 at 155 lbs.
Harris and Valderrama once again sealed the win with a tech fall and pin, respectively.
Campbellsville 36, Life 9
In the final dual of the day, Campbellsville got behind for the first time but that didn't last long.
Maria Ramos was pinned at 116 lbs. giving the Running Eagles a 5-0 lead but Campbell,
Koral Sugiyama and
Shelby Hall earned forfeit victories giving CU a 15-5 advantage.
CU swept the final six matches by out-scoring opponents 54-5 and pulled out another pin via
Courtney Gray at 143 lbs.
In addition to the varsity matches, the Lady Tigers also had three JV matches. CU defeated Life, 25-23 and Lindenwood-Belleville, 28-7 but lost to University of the Cumberlands, 20-16 to end the day.
"Once we get all of the pieces together we will have something very special. Tomorrow will be interesting. King and University of the Cumberland's are both quality teams led by quality coaches."
Campbellsville gets back underway at the Patriot Duals at University of the Cumberlands on Sunday afternoon.
