BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Campbellsville's women's volleyball team ended a 17-match losing streak to No. 17 Georgetown College with a 3-1 win on Friday afternoon at South Warren High School.

Kate Harris ended the match with 42 assists, which set a new career high for the freshman setter. Marcella Compeau and Savannah Moss finished with 33 digs combined for half of the team's total.

This Campbellsville's first MSC Tournament Final since the 2009 season when it lost to then-top-seeded Georgetown, 3-0, as the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.

Georgetown (21-4) got off to the fast start in the first set, jumping ahead, 4-1, and it extended its lead as many as eight points at 18-10. Campbellsville chipped away its deficit and made the score 21-18 in favor of Georgetown. Georgetown regained a six-points lead and held Campbellsville at set point, 24-18. However, Campbellsville battled back with six-straight points to tie the score at 24. Moss anchored the run serving for five of the six points in the rally.

After Campbellsville tied the score for the first time in the set, Georgetown erased the Campbellsville momentum with two-straight kills from Jenny Howell. Georgetown stole the first set, 26-24, to take the early advantage in the match.

Campbellsville flipped the script to start the second set, scoring six of the first seven points. Campbellsville continue to roll and stretched its lead to 11-2 and Georgetown was forced to call both its time outs during the Campbellsville run.

The Campbellsville run to start the second set went up to 14-2, and two service errors in three rallies helped Georgetown gain some momentum. Campbellsville did not let Georgetown string together a long rally as it went on to win the second set, 25-15.

After hitting .194 in the first set, Campbellsville's offense hit a scorching .467 in the second set, while holding Georgetown to a .152 attacking mark.

Campbellsville carried over the momentum from a second set win taking a 5-2 edge over Georgetown in the early going. With Georgetown trailing 10-5, it scored three-straight points to pull with a pair forcing Campbellsville to take its first timeout of the set.

Following the timeout, Campbellsville extended its lead back to five points, 13-8, after a quick 3-0 run of its own. Georgetown pulled its deficit to two points, but that is a close as it would come and Campbellsville scored the final four points of the third set to win, 25-17, and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

After not leading in the second and third sets, Georgetown struck first in the fourth set, but the lead did not last long as Campbellsville came back with the next four points.

Campbellsville continued to stymie Georgetown's attack as Georgetown hit .000 in the third set and .086 in the fourth set. After falling behind 1-0, Campbellsville did not trail the rest of the fourth set en route to winning the set, 25-15, and the match, 3-1.

With the victory, Campbellsville snaps a 17-match skid against Georgetown and earned its first victory over Georgetown since Sept. 20, 2011.

Over the four sets, Campbellsville hit .279, compared to .129 from Georgetown. Campbellsville out blocked Georgetown, 8-4, and Campbellsville racked 66 digs.
