COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six U.S. women walked away with gold medals at the 20th annual Dave Schultz Memorial International on Friday night at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Including Campbellsville's Kayla Miracle.

The finals featured five different countries, including the U.S., Japan, Korea, Norway and Puerto Rico.

College teammates at Campbellsville, Kayla Miracle of USA and Grace Bullen of Norway, went head-to-head in an international battle for gold at 62 kg.

Miracle, a 2017 U23 World Team Member, got to her offense quickly, leading 9-0 early in the second period. At the 3:45 mark, Miracle was awarded a pin over Bullen, who won bronze at the 2017 Junior World Championships, competing for Norway.

With the win, Miracle was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.

"In my first two matches of the tournament, I didn't feel like my normal self. I wasn't firing off shots," said Miracle. "With Grace, I knew she's really offensive and really explosive. I knew I had to keep moving. She likes to keep her ties close, and I don't like that. I like to keep my one tie on the side and so that's what I tried to control."

Miracle is a two-time Junior World bronze medalist for USA and a 2012 Cadet World silver medalist, while Bullen is a 2014 Cadet World champion and also competed at the Senior World Championships in Paris this summer.

Miracle defeated three-time Korean Senior World Team member Jin Young Hang of Korea in the semifinals, 8-0. Bullen, in her first year at Campbellsville, scored a 10-0 technical fall over past U.S. Senior World Team member Jenna Burkert of the U.S. Army in the semifinals.

Miracle has won three tough international matches in the last five days. On Sunday in Los Angeles in the USA vs. Japan dual, Miracle defeated 2012 Cadet World champion and 2015 Junior World silver medalist Yoshimi Kayama of Japan, 10-4. In the quarterfinals today, she beat two-time Cadet World champion Yui Sakano of Japan, 3-1.

"Overall the girls wrestled very well at Schultz," said coach Lee Miracle. "They are all learning and improving. It takes tough tournaments like this to drive home hard lessons. Kayla's performance was absolutely incredible. She had to beat two previous world champions to win this tournament. That makes four world champions she has beaten in the last month or so. That alone is impressive enough. She is a little dinged up and tired from all of the traveling, weight cuts, and tough matches. We need to give her some time off to refresh and start prepping for U23 World Championships in Poland in a couple of weeks. She is wrestling at the level she needs to be in order to win Worlds later this month."

In addition to Miracle and Bullen, Koral Sugiyama also competed in the finals at 59kg. Sugiyama lost to Lauren Louive of Hawkeye Wrestling Club 7-4 to earn a Silver medal.

On Day 1, Sugiyama earned a 10-0 victory in the first round and came from behind to pin Korea earning a finals bid.

Charlotte Fowler was the final Lady Tiger competing but lost her only two matches.
