BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville's women's swimming team split its tri-dual against Lindsey Wilson College and Union College on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers held off Union for a 115-109 victory over the Bulldogs, but dropped a 175-76 contest to Mid-South Conference rival Lindsey Wilson.
Action got underway in the 200-yard medley relay with
Faith Hyde,
Jen Lewis,
Brooklynn Friel and
Mikayla Runner posting an A standard time of 2:06.95 to place third.
Campbellsville also had its B squad compete in the event, where
Katy Lewis,
Morgan Bryant,
Lindsey Buckman and
Chelsie VanWhy finished in 2:13.86 to place fifth.
Hyde started the individual events for the Lady Tigers in the 1,650-yard freestyle. The sophomore notched a time of 22:53.66 to place fourth.
Of the nine competitors in the 200-yard freestyle, Campbellsville had six finishers. Friel led the way with a second-place finishing time of 2:06.60, which qualified as a bonus standard.
Olivia Schneider and Runner started a run of five-straight Lady Tigers finishers sitting in fifth and six after completing the race in under 2:15.00.
Kate Bouldin, VanWhy and
Jen Lewis rounded out the field finishing within a two-second window.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Hyde finished fourth (1:12.18), followed by
Lexie Upton (1:14.33) and
Autumn Turner (1:21.40).
Jen Lewis and Bryant finished back-to-back in the 100-yard breaststroke with time of 1:18.04 and 1:21.15, respectively.
Friel earned Campbellsville's only victory on Saturday – men or women – with a winning time of 2:25.52 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Katy Lewis finished third in event after finishing in 2:36.14, followed by Buckman with a mark of 2:43.22.
Back-to-back finishes continued to be the theme for the Lady Tigers with Runner placing fifth and Turner sixth in the 50-yard freestyle. Then in the 100-yard freestyle, Schneider (1:04.14), VanWhy (1:05.27) and Turner (1:14.18) placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Campbellsville had the final four finishers in the 200-yard backstroke, where
Jen Lewis led the quartet in third place with a time of 2:51.91. Upton was just over five seconds behind in fourth and Bryant placed fifth with a time of 3:00.26. Hyde capped off the field in sixth after touching the wall in 3:04.98.
Capping off the individual freestyle events, Schneider led three Lady Tigers in the field with a 6:05.63. VanWhy and Bouldin finished a second apart in 6:12.31 and 6:13.21, respectively.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Campbellsville placed two within the top five after Friel finished fourth with a time of 1:05.17 and
Katy Lewis completed the race in 1:10.28. Buckman was two spots outside of the top five with a 1:14.59.
Individual competition came to a close with Upton posting a time of 5:28.64 in the 200-yard individual medley to place fourth.
Katy Lewis finished the race in 5:36.52 and was fifth overall in the field.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bouldin, Schneider, Bryant and Runner finished second with a mark of 2:00.53 to complete the competition on Saturday.
Campbellsville competes next at the Sewanee: The University of the South Invitational on Nov. 17 in Sewanee, Tennessee.
