BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Third-seeded Campbellsville's women's volleyball swept sixth-seeded Cumberland University on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Thursday night at South Warren High School.

Maria Coelho led the Lady Tigers (25-7) with 14 kills and Annija Abolina chipped in with 13 on just 19 attempts. Julia Fonseca was the final player for Campbellsville to reach double figures in kills with 11. The trio combined for 38 of the team 46 kills in the match.

Marcella Compeau racked up a match-high 14 digs and Kate Harris tallied 39 assists in the contest.

The Phoenix (15-15) jumped out to the early edge in the first set, where the first 14 rallies were played within a four-point window and the Lady Tigers did not take their first lead until 7-6. After going ahead, Campbellsville never looked back the remainder of the set and continued to extend its lead en route to winning the opening set, 25-19.

The seven-point lead for the Lady Tigers to closeout the set was its largest lead in the first stanza.

Campbellsville rolled in the second set as it never trailed and Cumberland could only tie match at two and then again at five. A 9-1 run from the Lady Tigers flipped the 5-5 tie into a 14-6 advantage.

After the scored was tied at five, the Phoenix only mustered up five more points over the remainder of the set as Campbellsville outscored Cumberland over the last 25 rallies, 20-5, and the Lady Tigers won the set, 25-10.

With a 2-0 lead in the match, Campbellsville looked to wrap up the contest in three sets and hedged in front at the start of the third set with a 4-1 run. Cumberland rallied back and tied the set, 5-5, then taking a 7-6 lead.

A back-and-forth battle broke out with the game being tied nine different times, however, the score only changed hands twice. The largest lead for the Lady Tigers was three points and Cumberland had its largest lead once at 8-6.

Campbellsville erased that two-point deficit to go ahead 10-9 and it led the rest of the way. Cumberland tied the score once more at 24 all, but back-to-back kills from Abolina and Fonseca sealed the sweep for the Lady Tigers with a 26-24 victory in the third set.

The Lady Tigers hit .364 in the match, highlighted by attacking marks of .412 and .444 in the first and second sets, respectively. Cumberland hit .171 overall and broke the .200 mark in just the first set, where it had an attacking percentage of .265.

Campbellsville now faces No. 17 and second-seeded Georgetown College in the semifinals of the conference tournament at 1 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon from South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky.
