Lady Tigers force most turnovers since 2005 in 86-45 win over Carver College

LEBANON, Tenn. — Lady Tiger basketball forced a season-high 41 turnovers and ran past Carver College on Friday night, 86-45.
 
No. 6 Campbellsville (9-1) was out-shot by Carver (1-8) but the 41 turnovers turned into 38 points. The 41 forced mishaps are the most since Nov. 10, 2005 when CU forced 44 turnovers in an 80-53 win over Grace College.
 
Campbellsville also finished with a season-high 86 shot attempts. The Lady Tigers hit 31-of-86 (36%), while Carver was 20-of-47 (42.6%).
 
Savannah Gregory led the Lady Tigers once again with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting and hit 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Playing in only 19 minutes, Gregory also matched her career-high with nine boards for the second time this season.
 
Carver took a 2-1 lead just 35 seconds into the game but a layup by Lexxus Graham and 3-pointer by Lauren Turner sparked CU in the first quarter. But after a Madison Stewart jumper with 7:14 left and putting CU ahead, 8-2, the Lady Tigers went scoreless for over three minutes before Jordan Doram scored two of her eight points to end the drought.

Carver was able to hang around and cut the lead to four, 12-8, after the first break.
 
But it was the second quarter that Campbellsville started to hit on all cylinders. Stewart, who finished with 11 points, hit a pair of free throws to open the quarter and was later followed with a Madison Clements 3-pointer to put CU ahead, 17-8, just two minutes into the quarter.
 
Carver once again cut the lead to five, 19-14, with a 6-2 run but Gregory scored six straight points to put CU ahead by double figures for the first time, 25-14. Shyla Calbert and Caitlin Hall both his layups to cap a 10-0 run to push CU ahead by 15 points, 29-14.

Gregory hit her loan 3-pointer of the night with 26 seconds left in the first half to put CU ahead by its largest margin to that point, 38-22.

CU stepped up its defense once again in the third quarter to hold Carver to only 11 points. The Lady Tigers scored 10 of their 26 third-quarter points off turnovers.

Leading now by 34 points and entering the fourth quarter, CU scored 14 of its 22 points in the paint and 20 of those came from bench players who earned valuable minutes. Only one player, Caitlin Hall, notched 20 minutes of playing time. Also, every Lady Tigers got into the scoring column with Madison Kaiser leading the way with a season-high 12 points.

Campbellsville will now have a few days to prepare for another Top 25 matchup vs. Talladega College. CU hits the road on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for Talladega, Ala., tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and fans can tune into 88.7 The Tiger for radio coverage.
