WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Campbellsville women's swimming team dropped a 144-68 contest to University of the Cumberlands on Friday night.
The Lady Tigers slip to 2-4 overall in dual meets this season.
The Lady Tigers started out the meet with eight points in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Faith Hyde,
Jen Lewis,
Brooklynn Friel and
Chelsie VanWhy placed second with a time of 2:05.15, while
Lexie Upton,
Morgan Bryant,
Katy Lewis and
Mikayla Runner were just behind after finishing in 2:11.66. Both teams notched the national A standard.
Olivia Schneider started her meet with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a 12:43.31 and VanWhy was just behind with a time of 12:48.09.
Kate Bouldin rounded the field in the event with a 13:00.99 and placed fourth.
Campbellsville had three individuals compete in the 200-yard freestyle where Friel was the runner-up with time of 2:09.05. Runner placed fourth in the field where she notched a time of 2:15.35 and Hyde placed fifth with a time 2:17.92.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Katie Miller placed third, followed by
Lindsey Buckman and
Autumn Turner. Miller recorded a time of 29.83 and just missed the bonus cut, while Buckman finished in 30.14 and Turner touched the wall in 32.92.
Jen Lewis led the Lady Tigers in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:36.13, followed by
Lexie Upton in fourth after finishing in 2:37.69. Bryant rounded out the field after hitting a mark of 2:46.44.
Four individuals for Campbellsville took part in the 100-yard butterfly and Friel just missed the national bonus cut after she placed third with time of 1:05.15. Buckman finished fourth and Lewis was fifth with times of 1:13.41 and 1:13.52.
Katy Lewis competed in the 100-yard women's freestyle and was the runner up in the event after edging Runner by 0.05 seconds. VanWhy notched a time of 1:04.59 to place fourth overall.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Hyde led the Lady Tigers after placing third, followed by Miller. The duo notched times of 1:11.37 and 1:13.99, respectively. Upton placed fifth overall in the field after finishing 1:14.40.
With the meet winding down, Schneider finished third in the 500-yard freestyle, where Bouldin also competed a placed fourth. Schneider recorded a time of 6:14.63 and Bouldin completed the race in 6:14.93.
The final individual event featured Ludwig placing third overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.51, which was 0.02 seconds quicker then her teammate
Katy Lewis. Bryant capped off the event completing the race in 1:23.92.
To finish the dual, Campbellsville's A team in the 400-yard medley relay finished third with time of 4:17.88, where the B team for the Lady Tigers were just under 10 seconds back in fourth overall.
Campbellsville is back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 13 for its final home meet of the season against Bethel University.
