Tiger baseball hosts Midway University on Tuesday at 3pm for home opener at HIG Field

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After starting the season with two wins at Freed-Hardeman University this past weekend, Tiger baseball hits the diamond at HIG Field on Tuesday for the home opener versus Midway University.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and fans can tune in to the Campbellsville University Sports Network starting at 2:45. Jordan Alves begins his third season calling the games on 88.7 The Tiger and www.CampbellsvilleTigers.com/watch. Live radio and video links can be found.

After dropping their first game of the year, 7-2, the Tigers rallied to win the series with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, 5-4 and 3-2.

Romello Carbuccia led the Tigers offensively with six hits and four RBI. Carbuccia delivered an RBI triple in the seventh inning of game two to seal a come from behind victory and then an RBI double in game three to put CU ahead 3-1 in the sixth inning - what ended up being the game-winner. He was a home run away from the weekend cycle after notching three singles, a pair of doubles and a triple.

Defensively, Campbellsville committed eight errors and the pitching staff surrendered 15 walks and eight hit by pitches – which led to many of the runs for Freed-Hardeman.

The meeting between Campbellsville and Midway is the first in program history, as Midway is in its first season sponsoring male sports. The Tigers and Eagles are very familiar, though, as the coaching staff and many of the players have transferred over from St. Catharine College – which shut its doors this past summer.

The Eagles are led by Luther Bramblett, a former Tiger baseball player and assistant coach under head coach Beauford Sanders. Bramblett played middle infield and pitcher for the Tigers before graduating from Campbellsville in 1994.

Midway University enters with an 0-4 record after dropping all four games at the University of Mobile on Feb. 3-4. Hector Quinones leads the Eagles with a .222 batting averaging, while he, DJ Lewis and Danny Maguire all drove in two runs in their first weekend.

Campbellsville is also scheduled to host Huntington University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18. For complete information check out www.CampbellsvilleTigers.com and follow the Tigers on Twitter - @CTigersBaseball.
