GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Campbellsville's first-half offense wasn't exactly clicking today, but it all changed in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers went on a 19-2 run and reversed a two-point halftime deficit as CU (24-5, 9-4 MSC) went on to beat Georgetown College, 74-57.
But it wasn't easy. After building a 16-point third-quarter lead on
Lexxus Graham's free throws (52-36), Georgetown (7-18, 3-9 MSC) closed to within seven (59-52) on Shelby Beam's 3.
That's when Campbellsville used the inside muscle of
Jordan Doram to create some needed space. Doram scored consecutive baskets and two free throws for a 65-52 lead, and then
Lauren Turner and
Madison Clements combined for five points to build the lead back to 16, 70-54.
Georgetown used six first-half 3-pointers to build its 34-32 lead. While GC was hitting at a 50 percent clip, CU struggled at 30 percent and hit only 1-of-7 3s. The Lady Tigers were 11-for-19 on free throws in the first 20 minutes that kept them in the game. CU was 24-for-37 from the line, 13-of-18 in the second half.
Campbellsville was led by Doram's 18 points. She was joined in double figures by Clements,
Madison Stewart and
Emily Fox with 15, 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The Lady Tigers created 34 turnovers, 25 of them steals — eight by
Lauren Turner.
The Lady Tigers will complete regular-season play Saturday, Feb. 25 when Life University comes to town for Senior Day.
